About Me
Alexandra RoukisI was a part-time proofreader and editorial assistant for Guest Informant magazine (now called Where GuestBook) from 1988 to 1992, working my way through college and graduating in 1993 with a BA in Graphic Design. I've been correcting grammatical errors ever since I can remember and can't recall the exact moment I decided I wanted to actually be a proofreader/copyeditor. I had always been good at catching grammatical errors; so one day, I applied to a magazine, took its Proofreading Aptitude Test, got 100%--and the rest is editorial history. I proofread anything that contains words: street signs, books, company memos, product labels, fortune-cookie inserts, Kleenex boxes, gum wrappers...you name it. I live in Scottsdale, AZ, work full-time for Southwest Airlines (LUV) and own two companies, One Typo at a Time and AlexandraLee Originals, an on-line shop of mosaic glass artwork that raised over $200 for Breast Cancer Research, toward the end of 2007, through the sales of "Pinky's Victory," my pink-ribbon-themed ornament. I volunteer with Paw Placement and HALO and have four cats and a cockatiel. I proofread on a regular basis, have received many referrals due to my FREE-sample-page offer and refer to The Chicago Manual of Style and American Heritage Dictionary as my primary sources of spelling, grammar and style reference. I have a keen eye for detail and guarantee fast completion of assignments, often within a day of receiving them. My favorite gadget is a Franklin Electronic Talking Dictionary; I seldom leave home without it. "Grammar is the logic of speech, even as logic is the grammar of reason." - Richard C. Trench |
